Whether you have 100 sq. ft or multiple acres, our team of designers will work with you to design a comprehensive Food Forest Blueprint. Each design is custom and unique to each property. As certified permaculture designers, we specialize in eco-smart designs that stack functions so more can be yielded in the same square footage of space as an annual garden.

An average backyard installation costs about the same as conventional landscaping. We can grow a lot of food for $5-10K. We work with your space and budget, however big or small. *All pricing is estimated – Because we rely on local nurseries and suppliers, the cost of materials can change depending on what’s available.

Yes! Beginning January 2022 we will have financing options available. We want your food forests in the ground and producing as soon as possible and this will give many more people the ability to get started sooner.

Perennial plants can take between 2 and 5 years for full production, however, some bushes and vines such as raspberry and strawberry will produce a small crop in the first season. We plant a variety of plants that will transform the space within a season, including annual vegetables and perennial herbs for your short-term food supply. You will reap abundance in your first year as you wait for the fruit trees to bear their first crops. Remember that food forests have the potential to produce for multiple generations. An asparagus bed may take 2-3 years to mature but will produce plentiful spears for 30 years!

First, share details with us about your space, how much you want designed, and what you want out of your food forest. Your designer will gather the information they need and use satellite imagery and other tools to assess your property and create the food forest design of your dreams. From there you can prep and plant your food forest yourself, or you can hire us to install it for you. At any time if you have questions, we are here to support you along the way!

It’s amazing what you can grow with good design in place. There is a plant for every situation – on a slope, wet, dry, sun or shaded. The best location is one that you will frequent often and get the most enjoyment out of. We like to say ‘Grow Food, not Grass!’ Your food forest can be easily planted atop existing lawn.

Our food forest designs are low-maintenance and, over time, self-sustaining like a natural forest would be. We will create a design that suits your lifestyle and provide any necessary care instructions, training and support. The best way to maintain is to observe and interact with joy! If you ever need additional help with upkeep, we provide seasonal maintenance for an additional fee.

Forests are found on every continent – unless you live in Antarctica 🙂 Here in central Nebraska, it can get cold, but you would be amazed what variety of foods grow well in this climate. Your design will incorporate a variety of plants particularly suited to this area. You may be delighted to discover some delicious options you have never known about!
